Good Morning, this is the reason I have been MIA for the last month and a half.
I present to you.......OUR GARDEN
As some of you may know, both Alan and I are disabled, so it takes us a little longer to get things done. The garden is 8 ft x 25 ft. But we have created a very private secluded piece of paradise, and it's so nice and relaxing to sit out there and enjoy the sun, the warmth, and I can even hook up my music player as Alan put in an outdoor socket, and also an outdoor switch box, which all the lights and pond are attached too. So easy to come out the back door and just turn things on.......and we like to sit out every evening for a cup of coffee, with the lights on, and it's so quiet outside.
This is what the side garden looked like a couple years ago, the deck had ridging on it which was very uncomfortable on my feet since they are now super sensitive and it hurt to walk on it. We've removed the planter all along the side of the bungalow that we built 12 years ago. The old fencing was taken down and new fencing put up, new decking, all the ivy was taken down as we were finding it difficult to maintain it on a regular basis. And because ivy leaves such a mess on the brickwork, we have painted the whole side of the bungalow brown, which keeps off the rain and keeps the inside so much warmer now too.
This is my new big pink Hydrangea, with the biggest head of flowers I've ever seen. I've planted it in a big terracotta pot after painting the pot black to match everything in the garden.
This is a shot of the lamps we've installed and the perfect little planters at the bottom which were terracotta colored but again spray painted black to fit in.
This is one of the Liatris plants we bought, they are gorgeous when they are in bloom, and the bees and butterflies love them.
Here is the big planter I have, painted it black and it's full of perennial plants, inside we have material to keep some of the water in so the plants can drink from the bottom of their pots as well and we don't get a lot of soil draining out onto the decking. The decking was left it's natural color and oiled to keep the water from soaking in.
Here's a side view of the hanging baskets and you can see the wall we've painted, we've got a total of 4 hanging baskets, again they were spray painted black.
Here's another shot of the garden from the front, showing off the seating. The two seats at the back end of the deck (I forgot to put their cushions on....lol) and the new gas bbq, perfect for the summer evenings. Our new pond is beside the seating area, and it's the first thing we see when coming out of the door. Kody of course loves to sunbathe out in the hot summer days we've been experiencing.
I hope you enjoyed the pics and I will be back again tomorrow with some more pictures.
Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day.
