Pretty Little Birthday Gift Bag

Hello everyone........yes it's me. I'm back today with a white gift bag for my I Am Roses Dt project I've decorated for my granddaughter who turns 13 this coming Sunday. Her gift will go inside the bag. And I discovered when I came online that my last two posts for I Am Roses didn't show up, and that's because they were scheduled for 2015.....duh! So I will publish them tomorrow. I don't know why I'm thinking it's 2015 already. How silly! Anyway I hope you all enjoy the little gift bag I made......and watch out for my posts tomorrow.

Kody's Been Framed

Good Morning, it's the First of June, the sun is shining and it's time for a new challenge at I Am Roses Challenge blog.
This month our challenge is to alter a frame or create a frame on your project and to use the gorgeous flowers from I Am Roses.
I bought this multi frame many months ago and it started out white, but I just couldn't go with a white plain frame, so I changed the color by painting it with black gesso, then going over it with INKA GOLD graphite, platinum, and silver to give it a pewter look, and really pleased with how it turned out. I printed out some cute pictures of our little Kody in black and white to go with the frame and then used the gorgeous flowers in peachy pink and white colors to really stand out against the color of the frame. I also added some gold bead stems, some metal leaves I got off Ebay, and crystal stems. The little butterflies I've used are also metal ones that I got off Ebay.

Binder #1

Today I want to show you one of the two Tim Holtz Worn Cover binders I've decorated using embossing folders and Viva Decor Inka Gold. I started off by cutting out some grungeboard the size of the binder in three pieces, then covered each piece with an embossed sheet of cardstock. Once everything was glued into place, I started using the Inka Gold on them, mixing the colors of violet, gold and copper. I then added four metal corners that I also used the inka gold on, some wings from Tim Holtz, a prima clock, one of the metal flower embellishments from Finnabair, and four plastic flower embellishments that also underwent the inka gold treatment. I then added four small purple roses from I Am Roses in the centres of the flowers and a temptations label that I took off an old candle.....I knew I could use it someday.

Also don't forget you still have time to enter our tag challenge at I Am Roses to win the chance of winning some gorgeous flowers.

A Little Colorful Spring for you!

Good Morning, today I'm showing you my DT project for I Am Roses. For my project I created a lovely cover for a sketch book. I started off by covering the paper mache cover with some patterned paper and then a cover of corrugated cardboard and added a couple more papers to that. I then added some bricks, and a hanging birdcage with texture paste and stencils. I then sprayed the whole project with some sprays from LSG and once dried, went over the bricks, and birdcage with some Viva Decor Inka Gold waxes, I painted the edges of the corrugated cardboard with some Luminarte Silk Glazes. The metal butterfly was colored using Rangers Adirondack alcohol inks and then a little coating of the Inka Gold wax in gold. The little bee and clock metal charm was colored using the Inka Gold waxes as well. I've also added a resin birdhouse and bird behind the flower arrangement, which I used Inka Gold on to give it some color. The long branch and bird are from a Tim Holtz Alteration die, frame around the flower image is from a Sizzix die which I colored using Viva Decor Ferro texture paint, and once dried, I used a few colors from the Inka Gold waxes again. Finally my gorgeous arrangement of flowers from I Am Roses
A closeup of the Scrapbooking flowers I used, colored with copics, to create some spring looking flowers. The roses are all premade. A complete list of flowers are below.

Keeping Track of your Colors

Whilst re-organizing the bedroom into a more organized craft room. I decided to make a book to keep my color charts in for all my different mediums. So to start it off I wanted a fancy cover for it. I took two A4 sized Canvas boards, covered them with white gesso, then covered the entire surface with different embossed patterns done with white cardstock. Some of them I tore to get the right size while others I just cut to size. I then covered all of them with white gesso as well to hold the various sprays on them.
I used various Lindy's Gang sprays to create the various colors, then covered with some die cuts and chipboard cuts from Wycinanka. The dandelions and steampunk arrangement in the middle are from Wycinanka. The doily dies are Cheery Lynn dies, the gears are from Robert Adams and Cheery Lynn. Butterfly is from Globe Piccolo, the side hardware findings and long key are a Sizzix die. The metal clock is from Ebay. The centre frame is a chipboard die from Dusty Attic with a Sizzix one on top. The top Sizzix frame die has been covered with Viva Decor Ferro paint in gold iron, then covered with various Viva Decor Inka Gold waxes.
The hardware findings, some of the wooden gears and the lettering has been covered with Lindy's Stamp Gang embossing powders.

The back cover was covered with various dies and embossing folders and then sprayed with Lindy's Stamp Gang sprays.

I've punched 3 holes along the side and inserted metal rings and am slowly filling up pages with little color swatches from all my various mediums, will show you the finished pages when I'm done.

A Spring Tag

Good Morning, I know it's been awhile since I've been here on my blog, but I've been busy painting the craftroom, rearranging everything and also working on some mixed media projects that I will be showing you soon. Today we have a new challenge at I Am Roses Challenge blog and that make a tag with a spring theme.
I created my tag by using the Tim Holtz Alterations tag die and cutting it out using grunge board. I then covered it using Viva Decor Inka Gold in Pink Quartz, Aquamarine and Mint Green. I love using these rub ons, as you can blend with them so easily and the shine they give once you buff them up is incredible.
I then used a couple stencils with modeling paste, and finally sprayed some of Lindy's Stamp Gang sprays on top, which soaked into the lettering of the stencil.

Decorative Lettering

Hi everyone, long time no see, I've been very busy redecorating my craft room/bedroom
Now that we've painted the walls a lightish blue color which gives me more light during the day instead of the dark ocean green it was before, I've been busy decorating  6" MDF letters for all four walls. Here are the last two words I decorated in different ways.
for the top word Create I created a vintage style image paper, printed out 3 copies on A4 sheets, cut out half the sheet to cover one letter, ran it through the Xyron Creative station which applied the adhesive, after sticking it to the letter I used a nail file to sand it down to fit the letter and inked the edges with Walnut Stain Distress ink. I then chose my flowers making sure I used one 2" Rose in different colors for each letter, I then added some smaller flowers and other embellishments, glued them all down using hot glue.

For the second word again I printed out some paper, and applied the same method to get them onto the MDF letters. I then brushed a little gesso onto each letter to give a whitish background where I would be stamping parts of stamps onto the letters. I used Memento Tuxedo ink and my small Kaisercraft stamps to give a neat look to each letter. I inked the edges of each letter with some Gathered Twigs Distress ink. I then added an array of flowers and embellishments to each letter using a 2" Rose to each letter.

They look gorgeous hanging on the walls in my craftroom/bedroom.
I hope this inspires you to try decorating some letters or words for your home too.

Easter's on it's Way

Good Afternoon and Happy April 1st to you all. Today starts a new challenge at I Am Roses Challenge blog and our new challenge is EASTER and to incorporate EGGS or an EGG SHAPE into your card or project and at least two I Am Roses products.
I had this little basket sitting around, and it was a really light color, so I grabbed a spray from Lindy's Stamp Gang called Mission Bells Brown and sprayed it to a darker brown. I also had a bag full of polystryrene eggs to color so I grabbed my twinkling H20's and painted some of them into bright spring Easter colors.
I decorated the edge of the basket using the Mini Daisies and the handle using tulips from I Am Roses
I finished off the basket with a multicolored ribbon and some pearls and gems along the handle.

My First Mixed Media Canvas

Just wanted to show you all the first mixed media canvas I've completed of my dog.....take a close look at all the bits and bobs I've put on the canvas.....including two dog biscuits. I added all the items to the canvas, went over them all with a coating of white gesso, then used Danny Zuko's Denim spray and Bayou Boogie Gold spray from Lindy's Stamp Gang and to add alittle orange in the middle section I used Tears on my Pillow Tangerine and finally some Mango Mania. The frame around my doggie Kody is from Wycinanka as is the steampunk gears in the upper right hand corner and the bottom left hand corner, and the wooden clock in the lower right hand corner.. All flowers are from I Am Roses, nails, hinges, keys, screws all from my hubby's toolboxes (all with his permission of course) The canvas is 16x12. I'm also entering this into the color challenge at Lindy's STamp Gang

A Decorated Heart Box

I've been on a buying binge for the last couple month buying up the spray sets from Lindy's Stamp Gang, and thought it was time I entered one of their monthly color challenges.

I first covered the box with Gesso before layering all the various flowers and stamens on top, I then painted a thin coat of gesso over all the flowers, and glued some lace all around the edge of the lid. I then began spraying using the following colors:
Salt Water Taffy from the Nantucket Pearls Set
A Bit of Bubbly from the Drink Me Silly Set
Cotton Candy Pink from the Sweet Treats Set
Plumeria Pink and Magical Mai Tai from the Flat Fabio Hawaiian Islands Set
it was still too pastel for me, as I wanted a darker look so I then sprayed over top of all this with
Ponderosa Pine Olive and Red Hot Poker Orange and a little Tibetan Poppy Teal from the Autumn Leaves Set
I then sprayed a little more with the Sweet Violet Purple Teal and Canna Lily Burnt Orange and finally finished off with Hibiscus Rose and Caribbean Blue from the Caribbean Cruise set
For the bottom part of the heart box I glued on some net ribbon using mod podge and proceeded to use a lot of the same sprays on it until I achieved the color I wanted.

I'm really happy with how it all turned out and its' now hanging on the wall in my newly decorated craft room. I call it my Secret box cause I figure if we were ever broken into, who would think anything would be hidden in what looks to be just a piece of art on the wall....wink! wink!

Anyhow I've used a couple of the colors from the I hope it qualifies.

A Flower Banner for IAR Project

Hello, firstly let me apologize for the not so great quality of this picture, I had no choice but to take it with no sunshine, so I had to use a couple bright halogen lights off to the side in order for the items to show up. I couldn't use the ceiling lights as they are right in front of my card display banner and just created a giant glare, but hopefully the pictures below will give you a better idea of what I created.

A closeup of the two flower balls at either end of my card holding banner. To create the two flower balls, I took one styrofoam ball, cut it in half, so each one could fit over the nail in the wall holding the rope up. (a lovely way to disguise nails)

A closer look at the letters, picture was taken individually of each letter and then merged together in PSP.
Wooden letters are from Craft Shape Supplies, which I then painted with white gesso, stamped using a variety of stamps, I also used stencils and embossing paste to create texture, and finally sprayed with some sprays from Lindy's Stamp Gang, then added some Sherri Baldy images and finally some gorgeous flowers from I Am Roses

The flowers that I used on the lettering are

I've also used the same flowers on the flower balls in keeping with the color theme. I hope this inspires you to create your own card making display (p.s. you don't need a window behind, it can be hung on a wall)

The Easter Bunny and some Sad News

I've used the Easter Bunny Stack stamp for this card as it's coming up to Easter next month. Our latest challenge at High Hopes stamps is Chevrons. For my chevrons I used a stencil and embossing paste on a sheet of adhesive linen, and then used some color sprays in purple, yellow, blue, green and orange. Once the embossing paste and inks were dry I peeled off the backing and carefully laid the adhesive fabric onto some cardstock. The flowers are the mini daisies from I Am Roses, the lace and ribbon is from my stash.

Sadly this is my last challenge with High Hopes as my interest in cardmaking has disappeared for the time being as I venture into the world of mixed media canvases.

One Lazy Frog!

Good Afternoon I'm back again, this time with my DT card for High Hopes Challenge.
This week our challenge is "Clean and Simple"
For my card I created the scene on the computer and printed it out onto white cardstock, then stamped out my image and mounted it using tape and a little slot into the card where it sits forward a bit. The stamp is "Lazy Day Frog"  and is part of the latest release, drawn by Annie Lang. The sentiment is computer generated, pearls and ribbon from my stash.
I hope you'll join us this week for our challenge and a chance to win a High Hopes stamp of your choice.

A Little Sneak Peek with some Inspiration

Good Morning, I'm here showing you a couple cards I made for some inspiration using some of my Digi sets, only this time I'm giving you a couple sneak peeks for a new Digi set coming out at the end of March....this one focuses on Mixed Media, so for those of you that would like to do some mixed media but don't have the supplies to do so, here is a collection of papers all ready done for you, showing some texture, some distressed stamps, and yes even some flowers.

Both cards show one of the new papers in the set, and I've used a couple of Sherri Baldy's bestie stamps colored with copics in similar colors to the papers....they complement each other so well. The flowers on my second card were made by me using scrapbooking flowers from I Am Roses, some yellow stamens and a bit of coloring from reinkers on them.

I hope these new papers are just the thing you're looking for. I know I really enjoyed using them as much as I enjoyed creating them.

Thanks for stopping by
